Dear Patients,
All too often it is the practitioner who gets all the information about the patient, and the patient gets little information about the practitioner and his or her practice. I would like to change that.
My full name is Katharine Louise Morse and I was born in Anchorage, Alaska on August 16, 1953. As a military dependant we moved often and I graduated from high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, where I met my future husband, also a military man. I have been blessed with two wonderful daughters and when we at long last established our home in Florida I began to pursue a new career path. I discovered my passion for Oriental Medicine and in December of 2008 I graduated from Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine, in Gainesville, Florida, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science along with my Master’s Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I have my Diplomate in Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and am a member of the Florida State Oriental Medical Association and the Toyohari Association of North America.
My interest in health truly began with the gardening, hunting and fishing that we did when I was a child. I value healthy foods. As an adult, I learned reflexology as a method of reducing stress and used homeopathic and herbal remedies whenever possible. In 2003 I discovered Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and was immediately drawn to it. Through acupuncture and herbs one stimulates the power of the body to heal itself. I have personally witnessed the healing power of the body, and I have chosen to devote my life to the healing arts because I want to teach others to utilize this same power.
I believe in the principles of Oriental Medicine which includes the interrelationship of the body, mind, spirit and emotions. I believe that each of us can benefit from the application of Chinese medicine which includes acupuncture, herbs, massage, diet, exercise and other therapies, and I believe that I have been led to be here to give you the opportunity to make the appropriate changes so that you too can create healthy balance in your life. My goal is to help you on your path to a healthy lifestyle by identifying the root cause of illness. I believe, with all my heart, in how I practice medicine and continue to take post graduate seminars in my effort to improve and stay current. I believe I give an excellent service for a fair fee. I want to help people and I want you to refer and continue to refer patients to me because you recognize the value of this medicine in your life and the lives of those you love.
Having moved so often, I am ready to settle down and establish roots. I moved to Vero Beach to be closer to my daughter who is a science teacher at Vero Beach High School. She came here initially to attend a summer intern program at Harbor Branch and fell in love with the area. I too feel comfortable; this community has warmly welcomed me.
The whole purpose of my practice is embodied in the Center’s mission: to help and educate as many people as possible in their quest for optimal health and to educate those people so they may in turn educate others about the benefits of Alternative Medicine. To Alternative Medicine Family Care Center I bring unique training in Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis, a sophisticated means of uncovering the true nature of your health problems through analysis of the pulse. I have synthesized my extensive Chinese herbal training and vast knowledge of both Traditional and Contemporary Oriental Medicine into a powerful healing system to address your health care needs. This includes Toyohari, a Japanese style of acupuncture that does not insert needles. This method is often used for those who are sensitive to needles and is very effective with children. My personal promise to you is to use my training to educate you on how health and lifestyle are related, to be a resource for you, and to help you to help yourself achieve health.
Yours in Health,
Katharine Morse D.O.M.
